Just finished watching the Alameda Fourth of July Parade. Among the many things seen... The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus! I grabbed a factsheet from the folks with the bus, and here are some details:

"In an ideal 'well-to-wheel' demonstration of hydrogen fuel cell technology for fleet applications, AC Transit will operate three hydrogen fuel cell buses in revenue service beginning September 2005, using hydrogen fuel produced from an onsite small-scale methane steam reformer.

"Each bus is powered by a 120 kW UTC fuel cell and three nickel sodium chloride batters with 100kW of power; the batteries are used for booster power and storing regenerative braking energy.

Very cool!
